foam Amsterdam is a photography museum located on the stately Keizersgracht. Foam is the contraction of Photography Museum Amsterdam and presents changing exhibitions. In these exhibitions, various genres of photography exhibited. So you'll find art photos, fashion photos, historical photos and news photos.
Foam museum exhibitions
Foam annually organizes four exhibitions in which attention is paid to well-known names in photography. These exhibitions running each about three months. In addition to these long-term exhibitions are a 16 dozen smaller exhibitions, which can be visited for a few days or weeks, organized.

History museum Foam
Originally Keizergracht 609 was a warehouse. Later (in the 19de century) Foam Amsterdam, the building became the Museum Fodor. The museum Carel Fodor's art collection was shown. Fodor was a coal merchant, who had bequeathed his collection to his death on the city of Amsterdam.
After an initial reconstruction, the building was used by the Stedelijk MuseumThat in the exhibition space had been focusing on works by Amsterdam's origin. In 2002 Foam opened its doors after a second conversion.
The photography museum
Foam Amsterdam has 4 exhibition spaces.
- The Garden Rooms are located on ground level on the rear side of the building. They are three large, bright rooms look out over the beautiful garden in the courtyard of the foam. There is in the Garden Halls elevated walkway for smaller works.
- The Fodor Halls formed by three large rooms on the first floor of the museum and two smaller rooms, which are very useful for smaller, more intimate exhibitions. The Fodor Halls there is no natural outside light by the lack of windows.
- The Front Rooms Located on the first floor of the building in front of the museum. For the rooms you can still clearly see the original features of the building.
- the Lichthof is centrally located in the building next to the foam cafe. The glass ceiling in the Lichthof creates a light and airy feel. The Lichthof is usually used as a multimedia room during exhibitions or as a reception area for special events.
Foam is more than a museum
In the Foam Cafe, located at the bottom of the foam building, you can quietly enjoy a delicious breakfast or a lunch. You can associate a visit to the Foam Café to visit a museum, but you can also grab a bite without having to visit the Foam.
On the third floor of the foam is the library with a growing collection of photography books. Currently includes this library at 2000 3000 photography books. Most of these books are linked to previous photography exhibitions at Foam. In the library you can also find books have played an important role in the development of photography. The library is also occasionally used as an exhibition space for works by young talents.
