The history of the Hard Rock Cafe
The first Hard Rock Cafe was established in 1971 near Hyde Park Corner in London. It began as a restaurant with a rock 'n roll theme by lining the walls with posters of famous bands and artists. The concept was so popular that there was opened a second restaurant in 1978 in Toronto, Canada. When this also caught on, decided to extend the two founders, Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, the chain worldwide. In 2006 the Hard Rock Cafe chain was taken over by the Seminoles, a tribe in Florida. They all ran a successful casino business. Since then many Hard Rock Cafes combined with a hotel and a casino. There are those who argue that the concept because of this has lost its basic principles. Also because it seems today more focused on pop and less rock 'n' roll in particular. The concept of this speaks to a larger audience, and thereby continues to be successful.
