Bags museum Hendrikje is a museum that specializes in handbags, pouches and suitcases

A female antiques dealer Hendrikje Ivo Amstelveen started her collection bags when she found a purse with the cover plates of a turtle. This aroused her interest in bags and they began to gather. As of April 1996 they had a museum which was housed in her villa in Amstelveen. The museum moved in 2007 to Amsterdam where it was reopened on 9 June of that year.

Tassenmuseum Hendrikje has a story about fashion, art, custom and history of the bag. The museum is housed in a 17e century canal house in the middle of Amsterdam. The biggest in the field of bags is bag museum Hendrikje.

Museum of Bags and Purses

The historic canal house where the museum is housed in two so-called style chambers. They are to visit the visitors but can also serve as a reception area for guests. If you want to organize a dinner, reception or meeting, this style rooms an exclusive location. The small room style dates from the 17e century and has many memories of the Golden Age. The great room style from the 18e century exudes an atmosphere of palaces and grand opulence.

Tassenmuseum collection

The bag museum collection includes more than 6000 pieces. From 1600 to date bags on display and the museum is among the top ten fashion museums in the world. Museum Restaurant

The museum restaurant with delicious products overlooking a beautifully landscaped city garden which is located at the rear of the property. The perfect location for a high tea. In 2014 the museum shop chosen as the best.
